Udupi: BJP Government will Fall on its Own: Moily

The Hindu

Udupi, Dec 27: Union Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily said on Saturday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government was in a critical condition and would collapse under the weight of its own contradictions.

Mr. Moily told presspersons that internecine feuds were dogging the BJP Government and it was tethering on the brink of a collapse. It had become difficult to understand who was leading the State Government.

“We do not want to bring down this Government. We do not want to fish in troubled waters.

“But the people of the State are fed up of this Government”, he said.

On the induction of M.P. Renukacharya in State Cabinet, he said it was a matter of shame that a person against whom there were specific allegations had been taken into the Cabinet.

“This is bad not only for the BJP but also the State,” he said.

Earlier, addressing Congress workers here, Mr. Moily said the BJP Government in the State had failed in resource mobilisation and lacked the will to govern. It was surviving on funds provided by the Centre.

The party workers should strengthen the organisational base of the Congress from rural level by organising workshops.

The Surathkal-Byndoor stretch of National Highway 17 would be converted into a six-lane highway.

The Agumbe Ghat road linking Udupi with Shimoga would be widened at an estimated cost of Rs. 78 crore.
