Udupi: MLAs Should Desist from Making Statements: Sadananda Gowda

The Hindu

Udupi, Dec 27: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit president D.V. Sadananda Gowda on Saturday warned of stern action against party leaders employing pressure tactics.

Mr. Gowda told presspersons here that the party would hold a meeting of the Coordination Committee after the conclusion of legislature session to find a solution to pressure tactics of MLAs. The party had taken note of those party leaders indulging in indiscipline. All the MLAs, MPs and BJP office-bearers should observe discipline and discuss their problems within the party fora. “They should desist from making public statements as it dents the party’s image,” he said.

Mr. Gowda said that the State Government would soon be announcing the names of chairpersons for various boards and corporations.

To a question, Mr. Gowda said that he did not want to continue as President after his term ended in January.

He said the new found bonhomie between the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and Congress leader Siddaramaiah was intriguing. He could not understand whether Mr. Gowda wanted to see Mr. Siddaramaiah in some elevated position or wanted to pull him down. The Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) were putting up a joint fight for the sake of power. “But the BJP Government will complete its tenure of five years,” Mr. Gowda said.

MLAs Lalaji Mendon and Raghupati Bhat, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, BJP leaders Suresh Nayak and Ravi Amin were present.

Mr. Sadananda Gowda, u had mentioned stern action against party leaders using pressure tactics. Is it for the powerful like Reddy brothers and their associates or for disgruntled MLA's who cannot digest the functioning of BJP rule. Can u please explain this. After all the public know what BJP has taken action against leaders who have opposed openly the leadership.
