Beltangady, Dec 29: The policemen claim that the involvement of Raghavendra alias Rajesh alias Rakesh alias Ramachandra alias Ramakrishna (42), a resident of Doddamalligoodu in T Narasipura taluk of Mysore district, has been proved in three cases. It is believed that he is involved with many more cases, and the policemen are confident that they would able to unearth all of them soon.

Ramakrishna was handed over by the Bagalkot police, who had initially arrested him, to the local policemen, in connection with a case registered here. The modus operandi owned by the accused to lure the girls was as follows:

Ramakrishna used to give ‘brides wanted’ ads in the Mysore editions of some newspapers. Once girls responded, he used to lure the gullible young ladies by using his communication skills and earned their trust. Once the closeness turned into love, he used to promise the girls of marrying them, and took them to temple-towns like Dharmasthala, duly asking them to bring all their valuables with them. Unlike serial killer Mohan Kumar, Ramakrishna used to abandon the girls at these places, and disappeared with their valuables.

A girl named Gangambike from Mysore, who was lured by the accused last year, had come to Dharmastahala with him on May 27, 2009. As soon as she got down from the vehicle, he had gone away, saying that he would bring his friends, but never came back, she said in her complaint. He reportedly took away gold ornaments worth three lac rupees and cash amounting to Rs 50,000 she had brought with her. Realizing that she had been duped, the girl had filed a police complaint with the local policemen.

The man is accused of being involved with two other similar cases, in Karkala and Bagalkot. Local sub-inspector of police, Subbnapooramutt, has been investigating. Reportedly, Ramakrishna has been claiming that he was being guided by a gang of three other persons, and that he never acted on his own. He also is claiming that he has not been in possession of the gold ornaments of Gangambike, it is learnt.
