Beltangady, Dec 30: “When the hidden emotions and ideas come out with renewed vigour and get expressed through creative works or deeds, the lives of the persons concerned get a sense of fulfillment. Never try to emulate or copy someone else. Try to realize yourselves and your potentials. Be a different person, a unique personality by developing your own virtues,” advised well known Kannada satirist and humourist, Prof Aa Raa Mitra. He was speaking after felicitating winners of the district level competitions based on books preaching moral values, organized by Dharmasthala Shantivana Trust in association with Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Chikmagalur  zilla panchayats and the department of public instruction of the district, at a function held at Mahotsava auditorium, Dharmasthala on Tuesday December 29.

“The formal education being imparted through schools should teach the students to speak freely and bring out their latent talents and ideas. It should teach them to confidently face life, even when they are different from others. The students should amass knowledge from everywhere, from elders, schools, teachers, society, nature, environment, and wherever else it is possible. The students should then put wholehearted efforts to achieve what they dream of,” he suggested.

In his satirical style, Mitra noted that the MPs who are accustomed to sleep everywhere, also raise their hands while sleeping. He advised the youngsters to live like a normal human being, but achieve uncommon things in life. “Respect the elders, but keep distance from them,” was one of his advices.

Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, presided.  He said that Shantivana Trust has been publishing and distributing books that spread moral values, and would be conducting such competitions annually. A total of 320 students had taken part in various competitions.

Hemavati V Heggade, D Harshendra Kumar, state Yoga resource person, M S Nagaraja Rao and Yoga director, I Shashikant Jain, were present.
