Mangalore: Somashekhara Commission – Sitting in City Postponed

Mangalore, Jan 2: It is learnt, that the sitting of the Somashekhara Commission of Inquiry, probing church attack incidents in the state, which was to take place in the city from January 7 to 11 this year, has been postponed by about ten days.  The sitting will now be held from January 22, as the Commission is busy with the preparations of its interim report to be submitted to the state government, it is learnt.

The interim report is expected to contain exhaustive details like estimated losses, compensation payable, compensation, prima facie reasons for the attacks, etc.

It is learnt, that during this sitting, Bajrang Dal former state convener, Mahendra Kumar, several district police personnel and others, will be subjected to cross examinations with regard to various complaints lodged against them. The term of the Commission is sent to end on March 31 this year, and in all likelihood, it will seek extension by a few months, as lot of work remains to be completed.
