Kasargod, Jan 6: Two shops located in Chowki Azad Nagar in the town were torched by unknown miscreants on the night of Tuesday January 5.

‘Sri Adishakti Furniture Mart’ owned by B K Narayan, and ‘Sri Bhagavati Store’ adjacent to it, owned by Prabhakar, went up in flames. The policemen on night patrol duty saw the burning shops and called the fire brigade. The fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and extinguished the flames.

There is no clue as to who set the shops on fire. In the recent past, some stone pelting incidents on houses and a bus also occurred in Chowki Azad Nagar, but so far, the policemen have been unable to pinpoint the culprits.

The loss in the fire incident is estimated at about two lac rupees.
