Kasargod: Journalists Protest Against Assault on Pressmen by Sand Mafia

Kasargod, Jan 8: Journalists from in and around Manjeshwar organized a protest in front of Manjeshwar police station on Thursday January 7, against the abduction and assault of  TV 9 television channel cameraman, Wilfred D’Souza, and his brother, Anil D’Souza by some miscreants, when the two were filming illegal sand mining and transporting activities.

The protest rally taken out on this occasion, which originated from Hosangady town, was stopped near the police station by the policemen. The protest meeting held later under the presidentship of veteran journalist, Achyut Chevar, was inaugurated by CPI leader, B V Rajan. Speaking on the occasion, Rajan condemned the assault on  the journalists and demanded for the arrest of the culprits immediately.


 

Leaders of several political parties, like Mohammed D M K, R Jayanand, Hanif Posott, Basheer Kanila, Ramakrishna Kadambar, M Abbas, S A Rahiman, S Abdul Khader, Yogish Gatti Jappu of Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike, Chandrahas Rai, Hamid Hassan, Farooq Kinya etc., were present.

Journalists, Arif Machampady, Rajesh Daddangady, Rahiman Udyavar, Nishakiran, Ravindran Uppala, Abdulla Kumble, Fazal Kumble, M K H Pervad etc., led the protestors.

Latif Uluvar welcomed. Harshad Vorkady proposed vote of thanks. Thereafter, a memorandum urging the station in-charge of Manjeshwar police station to immediately arrest the accused was handed over to the concerned.

    They only have name as TULUNADU RAKSHANA VEDIKE but they are using flag & shall of Kannadigas . I dont think this organisation will serve the purpose of Tuluvas . We actualy need an organisation who can fight for Tuluvas & develop Tulu.
