Bangalore: Sandalwood Actress Tara Likely to be MLC

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jan 9: The BJP is sifting through the names of eligible candidates for filling up three posts of nominated members of the legislative council (MLC), in place of those who will be retiring shortly.

Nominated MLCs, Dr Chandrashekhar Kambara, Mallajamma and Prakash Rathod, will be retiring on January 20. The government is vested with the power to recommend names for these posts to the state Governor, for being appointed to the council.

Sandalwood actress, Tara, and Prof P V Krishna Bhat, who is backed by Rashreeya Swayamsevak Sangh, are said to be certain to get the government’s nod.  The name of V Somanna, former minister, who crossed over to the BJP from the Congress Party recently, and was forced to resign from the ministry, after he failed to get elected from Govindarajanagar constituency in the city in the assembly by election, has also popped up as a probable candidate.

The inner circles in the party claim, that veteran Kannada poet, Channaveera Kanavi may be nominated, if the government faces hurdles in getting the Governor’s nod for nominating Somanna as MLC.
