Puttur: Bhyrappa to be Bestowed Dharmashree Award

Puttur, Jan 9: Novelist S L Bhyrappa will be honoured with 'Dharmashree award' for his outstanding contribution to literature at a ceremony in Jaina Bhavan here on Januray 16.

Addressing media persons Dharmashree Pratishtana and S L Bhyrappa Felicitation Committee honorary president K Seetaram Rai Savanoor on Friday January 8 said that the award ceremony will begin at 4.00 pm. Speaker K J Bopaiah will preside over the function. Pejawar senior seer Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji will felicitate Bhyrappa. Vishweshwar Bhat, editor, Vijaya Karnataka, Kannada daily will deliver felicitation address. Advocate general Ashok Harnalli, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and state BJP president D V Sadananda Gowda will be part of the ceremony.

Prior to the ceremony, a seminar under the presidentship of litterateur Erya Lakshminarayan Alva will be held. On the occasion, Bhyrappa will present his views on Indian culture and its future challenges. Satyavan Savitri, a Yakshagana episode will be presented by Poornachandra Yakshagana Mandali, Kumbashi as part of cultural programme.  

Bhyrappa's novels are unique in terms of theme, structure and characterization. His books have been among the best sellers for the past several years in the Kannada, Hindi and Marathi literary field.
