Mangaluru, Jun 8: JD(S) district president Mohammed Kunhi urged authorities to make way for traders to start business at central market as the state high court issued stay order against the demolition of the building.

Addressing media here on Monday June 8, Mohammed Kunhi said, "In the name of lockdown, the vendors at central market were not allowed to run their business at the market despite the high court issuing stay order."

Kunhi said that the vendors of central market were asked to shift to APMC Baikampady without giving sufficient time even if the decision of shifting the vendors was taken to avoid crowd due to COVID-19. Some vendors shifted to APMC market while few to their residences. No proper arrangements were made at APMC which incurred huge losses.

"If the vendors are not allowed to start their business at central market then it is a violation of high court order. JD(S) will support the vendors who would be starting their business at central market," he said.

Speaking on ratio kits distributed by the BJP, Kunhi said, “The kits which were distributed through Muzrai department were distributed with a party symbol. A probe must be conducted in this regard. There are also allegations of irregularities while distributing kits that the kits were not distributed equally in every city corporation wards and ingredients were distributed without calling for tender.”
