Bengaluru: Quarantine stamps getting erased - Officials encounter new challenge

Bengaluru, Jun 12: The stamps imprinted on the back of a person's palm provides testimony to the fact that the person concerned has been home quarantined. The ink on such stamps is indelible, durable, and is meant to last long. But it is learnt that a few people have been able to erase these stamps and then move around the roads and localities, overlooking the fact that they could be harming the health and risking the lives of many people. This development has posed a new challenge for the officials.

The officials have now been instructed to keep observing the people in home quarantine closely and keep checking the stamp on their hands. health department officials who confessed that a few have erased the stamps and moved around freely said that strong steps will be taken against those violating the rules.

This is a serious lapse. This information has been provided to Mysore Paints and Varnish Company Ltd that supplies this ink. The company has confirmed that it has been supplying good quality indelible ink that is used during the election, and that there is no compromise as far as the quality of the ink is concerned.

The company has supplied 10,000 bottles of the said ink to the state. The company also said that it does not have time to undertake quality checks now. It also said that how long the ink remains on hand depends on the kind of skin a person has.

The health department officials say that in several cases, the health officials keep creating fresh impressions of the stamp again and again during their visits to home quarantine. In many cases, the chances of the ink getting washed away are more when the person concerned does household work. In the case of some people, the stamp stays even beyond the quarantine period. A few use enamel remover to erase the stamp. They follow this trick even during the elections. The work of taking action is being undertaken now. The people should act as eyes of the government and they should never allow such practices to go scot-free, they feel.

    There should be a chemical which reacts with skin to retain a permanent mark for a month. Something like dilute nitric acid....if you drop diulte nitric acid on the skin it produces a yellow stain called Xanthoproteic acid and this scar remains for a month or so., no matter what you do.

    In one instance of my friend arriving from outside, after getting the quarantine seal, he washed his hand with hand sanitizer a few minutes later and the seal mark just vanished.
    Even in my office for stubborn stains like permanent marker, ink pad ink on light coloured furniture we just put one or two drops of sanitizer, it will clean the stain with just one wipe.

    Annouce if any one shows the stamp after the 21 days quarantine they will be given free food grains and grocery kits,

    It is unbelievable that quarantine stamps are getting erased. Something wrong somewhere. There must be many people on the roads whose stamps has been erased and have spread the Covid-19 to others. This is a serious issue.

    Officials have to recheck the stamps after quarantine ends & confirm that said person has finished quarantine, this will ensure that person won't erase the stamps as he/she will fear they may have to face consequences if stamp is missing.

    Developed countries are using wrist bands with detectable chip. But In India long back they had Idea of using it for cows and for human being rubber stamp? What a foolishness ?
    This is the difference between educated and uneducated leader..... In our country educated are ruled by few uneducated ,shameless fools .............
