Davanagere: Blatant violations at Congress MLA's son's wedding, health minister among guests

Daijiworld Media Network - Davanagere (SP)

Davanagere, Jun 16: The marriage of the son of former minister and current Congress legislator representing Hoovina Hadagali constituency, P T Parameshwar Naik, was held with pomp and show in the city on Monday June 15. Leading personalities and lawmakers including health minister Sriramulu, and former chief minister Siddaramaiah attended the marriage function and blessed the newlyweds.

A complaint against Parameshwar Naik and his other son stands registered now for violating government norms aimed at controlling spread of coronavirus infection.

Paramehwar Naik, and his son, Bharath Naik, have been named as accused in the complaint. The first information report was registered in Arasikere police station in Harapanahalli taluk in Ballari district under instructions from Ballari deputy commissioner and superintendent of police. Before registered the first information report, court permission was obtained.

The union home department has drawn up rules and regulations to be followed when holding marriage and other functions during the current period of corona pandemic. Everyone has to fall in line with these rules which govern things like maintaining social distance, number of people who can attend, wearing of masks, use of sanitisers etc. As per the rules, not more than 50 persons can come together for a marriage function. Everyone has to wear masks and maintain distance. But in the above marriage, over a thousand people had come together, and many among them had not worn masks. The people had formed a huge crowd instead of maintaining social distance.

People were vociferous in airing their anger at the people's representatives being above law and pointing out that if the rules were violated by commoners, they would have been dealt with strictly. Even the media lapped up the news in a big way and grilled several leaders. The deputy commissioner and district superintendent of police who realised that the issue was blowing into a major controversy, instructed the concerned to initiate legal action against the MLA, after which the first information report was filed.

Why is the BJP high command and state BJP leaders have no courage to terminate terminate the health minister of Karnataka. We should be having a educated minister specially for health ministry. Now at the testing times the ministers should adhere to rules and lead by example.
