Bantwal: Valedictory Function of B V Karant Memorial Natakotsav Held

“The late B V Karant, intellectual and renowned Kannada litterateur, novelist and poet, has contributed significantly to the literary sphere and theater of Karnataka, and the people of his native place are expected to take his lead and work in this regard”, said litterateur Vaidehi.
 
She was speaking in recognition of the honour accorded to her during the valedictory function of B V Karant Memorial Natakotsav, a three-day extravaganza of theater, held at Manchi–Kukkaje, near here, recently.

 

The Natakotsav was organized under the aegis of B V Karant Ranga Bhoomika Trust and Babukodi Ranga Pratisthan.
 
“The setting up of a theater institute and study centre at the birth place of B V Karant, should inspire a new generation of stage artistes”, said Vaidehi. 

She urged the people to take an interest in arts, literature, and cultural activities, since modern life has threatened human relations, cultural upbringing, and cordial living.
 
Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, presided over the programme and felicitated Vaidehi.
 
Dr Alva said that the need of the hour is to develop a sense of beauty by taking an interest in literature and arts that can bring mental peace in the midst of chaos and confusion of daily living. 
 
Jayaram Patil, managing trustee, Babukodi Ranga Pratistan, Bangalore, was the chief guest on the occasion.
 
Lecturer Dr Ganesh Bhat delivered the felicitation address.  Talented students were honoured on the same occasion.
 
Trust president Kaje Ramachandra Bhat welcomed the gathering.  Secretary Chandrashekar Rao proposed the vote of thanks. 

Umanath Rai and Ramanand N compered the programme.
