Mangalore, May 5: The personnel of the district crime intelligence bureau (DCIB) succeeded in arresting the main accused in the incident of attacks on two newspaper offices in the city that occurred about 45 days ago.

Sirajuddin, a resident of Moodushedde Padav in the outskirts of the city, was arrested by the DCIB policemen from his home on Tuesday May 4. He was then handed over to Urwa police station for further action.

Reportedly, Sirajuddin was the brain behind the attacks on the offices of Kannada dailies, ‘Kannada Prabha’ and ‘Jayakirana’ in the city. Although six other accused in the incident have been arrested in this connection, Sirajuddin had succeeded in evading his arrest so far.
