Mangalore: Welcome Rains Visit Twin-districts

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, May 8: Many parts of the twin-districts received thunder showers at around 2 am on Saturday May 8. Even though the quantum of rain was less, intensity of thunder and lightning was quite high. Power supply to many places including the city got severed  as a result. In most places, the rain was not enough to provide a reasonable respite from scorching heat.

On Friday evening, Subrahmanya, Sullia and a few places in Dakshina Kannada district received rains. Subrahmanya received rain coupled with speeding wind and lightning from 5.30 pm to 7 pm on Friday. Power supply and telephone services were disrupted.

Reports about rain have also come in from Chikmagalur and Shimoga district. As trees got uprooted on several roads, traffic was affected. Several electric poles also fell to the ground.
