Mangaluru: Officials given November 30 deadline to fill highway potholes

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Nov 12: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Dr Rajendra K V, instructed the officials to take all necessary steps forthwith to pave way for smooth movement of vehicles of the general public on national highways.

He was speaking after chairing the progress review meeting of national highway works held on Wednesday November 11 at the auditorium of the office of the deputy commissioner.

"The task of filling potholes on the highway between Mani and B C Road Junction should be completed before November 30. At the same time, work to fill potholes on the road between Gundia and Addahole should be filled. Things needed to undertake repairs should be procured with the support of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. When executing these works, it should be ensured that no traffic problems arise," the deputy commissioner advised.

Noting that for undertaking four-lane concrete road between Addahole and Bantwal, 35 hectares of land from 680 owners belonging to 17 villages have been acquired, he asked the assistant commissioner and national highway officials to coordinate the work of issuing 3G awards to the owners as per land acquisition proceedings within the next ten days.

District superintendent of police, project director of NHAI, special land acquisition officer, Puttur sub-divisional officer and engineering department officials were present.

Dear DC Sir, people of Mangalore seem to be the most patient with the roads in the city being potholed at most places. The entire lobby that lays roads, repairs roads seem to be hand in gloves with the entire Govt. Machinery which awards contracts for road works. If the road is laid well, there would be no potholes. From Nanthoor to Parari (just before Gurupur new bridge) there is no road but potholes. It is quite a nightmare for two wheeler riders and many unreported minor accidents have taken place. It is time that the road work/repair work is given to a company which has credibility irrespective of what kind of influence the companies have. Very often, thanks to the God Father mentality, contracts are awarded based on recommendations. As they say, you must have a God Father to get a Govt. Contract. Nonetheless, things are changing and I'm sure it will be better.

DC Sir, my earnest request is to pay some attention to Nanthoor to Parari road (just before Gurupur new bridge). I'm a daily commuter on this route and like me there are thousands who use this road everyday.

But yesterday illiterate, uneducated, dump, inefficient MP Nalin Kumar is barking at public forum saying that citizens voted for them due to development. Then how come civil servents like Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Dr. Rajendra K V, instructed the officials to take all necessary steps forthwith to pave way for smooth movement of vehicles of the general public on national highways.

According to dump MP Nalin Kumar, development is already done. So..so...so....here is a real picture of development....in India..... especially Mangalore since May-June 2014 to date.

In reality......I N D I A is now 90% rural economy. One time it India was 70% rural economy. From May-June 2014 onwards....it came back to 90%...that means India is not at all developed. All propaganda along with Print & Digital media is fake and paid as well as manipulated data. In reality, our economy is a very bad position. NPAs have increased, loan & advance defaulters (businessmen) are fleeing the country, financial sector, construction, factory, Import / Export, excise, revenue department, Pvt. sector everywhere downward trend.

I N D I A till today importing all electronic devices, mobiles, toys from enemy country C H I N A, which has occupied 4-Mountain fingers at Laddak. Our failed illiterate PM simply barking at the public podium that Atmanirbhar Bharat, which nowhere can see. All are FAKE and CHEATING to taxpayers and common people of this country.

Dear DC Dr. Rajendra KV, sir kindly take a drive from Nanthoor circle towards Kulshekar & then on to Moodbidri. We find NO ROAD AT ALL. It looks and sure feels like a Kambala Road. So kindly have that repaired.
You need to be aggressive and also transparent in handling these issues. If a Contractor does the road repairs and roads goes bad within a year or so, please fine that contractor and do not award him any contracts for further five years. Only if you implement these harsh rules, we Mangaloreans might get better roads.
Potholes filling will be done in such a horrible manner that in a few days these roads will be back to square one. Something serious has to be done to save us from these vultures called Contractors.!!
