Mumbai: Harassment of girl - Youths beat man to death

Mumbai, Nov 23: Five youths between the age of 18-21 years have been arrested for the murder of a 29-year-old man. The accused beat the victim to death for reportedly harassing a girlfriend of one of the accused.

The entire incident took place in Santacruz (E) on November 19 and was captured on CCTV cameras, based on which the police made the arrests. Police stated that of the people arrested, some are students.

Local man Mayur Joshi allegedly tried to harass a woman walking on the road. He passed a lewd comment at her, after which she called her boyfriend. Around 10.30 pm, the prime accused also brought along four of his friends to confront Joshi. Soon the conversations between the youths escalated and the group started thrashing Joshi.

The fight left Joshi with multiple injuries, due to which he was hospitalised. He succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. The accused were identified and picked up from Datta Mandir Road on Sunday.
