Mumbai: Panchayat polls for 34 districts to be held in January 15

Mumbai, Dec 12: The state election office announced that gram panchayat elections will be held for 14,234 villages in 34 districts. The annoucement was made on Friday, December 11.

Since April this year, the elections were postponed but could not be conducted due to the pandemic and subsequent lockdown. The polls are now scheduled to be held on January 15, 2021 while the couting of votes will be done on January 18.

The elections will be conducted in all 34 districts except Mumbai and Mumbai suburbs.

Over 1000 gram panchayats had completed their term in April this year out of 14,234 while the rest would complete their term by December 31.
