Young couple from Byndoor earns appreciation from PM Modi for prioritising beach cleaning

Daijiworld Media Network - Byndoor

Byndoor, Dec 27: They say good deeds never go unnoticed. No matter how silently a noble work is done, it manages to catch the attention of the world and inspire thousands. For this young, recently married couple from Byndoor, appreciation came from none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.

Daijiworld had recently published about Anudeep and Minusha, who prioritised beach cleaning over their honeymoon. After working regularly for nine days, they succeeded in clearing debris from a part of Someshwara beach.

Anudeep is into digital marketing while Minusha is an employee of a pharmaceutical company. They got married on November 18. However, instead of rushing off to honeymoon as most couples do, they decided to make their marriage more meaningful by cleaning Someshwara beach here. During the first seven days, they collected 500 kg of waste and disposed them off. The locals too joined hands with them. As much as 700 metres of the beach was cleaned, and the total amount of waste they collected was around 700 to 800 kg.

Their noble service came to the attention of Prime Minister Modi. In his monthly 'Mann ki Baat' address on Sunday December 27, Modi appreciated the couple and called upon youngsters in the country to follow their example.

"There is a young couple from Karnataka - Anudeep and Minusha. They got married just last month in November. After marriage many young couples go on honeymoon, but these two did something different. They both had seen that whenever people go out of their homes on trips, they leave behind a huge pile of garbage. The situation was the same in Someshwar beach in Karnataka.

"Anudeep and Minusha decided to clean the garbage accumulated on Someshwar beach. Both husband and wife took this as their first resolve after marriage. Together, they cleared a lot of garbage from the beach. Anudeep also shared his resolve on social media, and, inspired by his noble thought, many other youths joined them. You will be surprised to know that these people collectively cleared over 800 kg of garbage from Someshwar beach," Modi said.

The PM also urged people to reflect on their actions when they go on trips and take care not to litter. "Friends, in between these efforts we must also give a thought to how does garbage accumulate on our beaches and mountains. It is people from among us who leave garbage behind on these spots. We should initiate a cleanliness drive like... Anudeep and Minusha and most importantly, ensure that we do not litter our surroundings," he said.

It is good that someone has appreciated the work done.But...There are thousands of people and organizations who help in keeping the surroundings clean, is it not discrimination that praise is reserved for selective people. Also salaries of waste management people are not paid on time at many places in the country including Mangalore, this also has to be looked into for success of Search Bharat mission.

Congratulations dear friends. You have done a good job. May God bless you all. In India people must know that they must not throw the garbage in public places. Each state should be a strict restrictions. Those who do not observe must receive the fine. Then people learn the lesson.
