Madhugiri, June 7 (DHNS): Feeling humiliated over his wife’s decision to change political parties , a man allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in Cheelanahalli, Madhugiri taluk on Saturday.  
 
At the recently concluded Gram Panchayat elections, Lingamma (60), wife of Anjinappa (70), a JD(S) leader, was selected to the Garani Panchayat which was reserved for Scheduled Caste woman. Besides, more JD(S)-supported candidates were elected to the panchayat.

While the president’s post was reserved for general category, the vice-president’s post was reserved for SC woman. However, BJP and Congress leaders lured Lingamma of vice-president’s post and asked her to back the candidate supported by the both the parties to which she agreed. Apparently, upset over her decision, Anjinappa is learnt to have committed suicide by consuming poison. Although he was admitted to Victoria Hospital in Bangalore, he died on Saturday.
