Its 5 Months, Dist-in-charge Minister Renukacharya Yet to Visit Kodagu !

Madikeri, Jun 7 (DHNS): Its five months since Excise Minister M P Renukacharya took charge as the District-in-Charge Minister of Kodagu. But, till date, he has not visited the district and has become target among elected representatives and public. 

The former District-in-Charge Minister Krishna Palemar had requested CM B S Yeddyurappa that he can not manage two districts. Hence, the charge was given to Renukacharya. All the people then expected Renukacharya to visit the district during Gram Panchayat polls. Even after the polls, he has not set his foot on the district yet.

Monsoon will enter Kodagu at any time. Once rainy season starts, then Kodagu will receive rain for the next 6 months followed by property loss, caving in of walls and flood. Normally, previous district-in-charge ministers used to conduct a preparatory meeting to get ready for the monsoon.

When Palemar was district-in-Charge Minister, he used to visit the district atleast once in three to four months and conduct KDP meeting. Though he had failed in getting additional grants to the district, he has won the hearts of the people by getting additional funds for Madikeri, Gonikoppa Dasara utsav. In fact, he had even written a letter to government seeking suspension of those officials who fail to attend KDP meeting. Without district-in-charge minister, KDP meeting is also not being held in the district regularly.

It was only during the reign of JD(S) and Congress that the elected representatives of Kodagu were given District-in-Charge Ministership. During the reign of coalition government, ‘outsiders’ were given the power, Tanvir Sait of Mysore, Alangooru Srinivas of Kolar and Ramachandre Gowda of Bangalore - to name a few. 

At present K G Bopaiah who was elected from Virajpet constituency is Assembly Speaker. Madikeri MLA M P Appachuranjan failed to get a berth in the Cabinet inspite of winning the election three times. In this background, all political party representatives are urging the government to provide a chance to MLAs, keeping development of the district in mind.

    don't know if it was palemar or someone else, but roads from madikeri to mysore via kushalnagar are excellent. i have been using them from 1995. but last month when i visited the golden temple at bylakuppe, was just amazed at the roads. good work, touchwood:)
