Mangalore: Father Muller College of Nursing Celebrates ‘World No Tobacco Day’

Mangalore, Jun 7: Father Muller College of Nursing organized a public awareness programme on 'No Tobacco Consumption' at Tannirbavi here on Sunday June 6.

The site and settings were provided by Youth Sports Club members of Tannirbavi. The programme commenced by invoking God's blessings. Devraj, Youth Sports Club member welcomed the gathering.

The main highlight of the programme was the role play in Kannada by the fourth BSc(N) students, according to the need of the community for public awareness on the consumption of tobacco. Following this, the presentation of information on preventive and treatment aspects of tobacco consumption was given with up-to-date modalities suiting community life.

More than 100 people spectacled the programme and was successful in imparting knowledge to the public regarding the social evil, focusing the  avoidance of passive smoking  among general population to eliminate vulnerability to future morbidity in our region.
 
Sherlyn compered the programme. Agnes helped in the co-ordination of the programme. Jasmine Vas, Santhosh and Balaram the staff of Community Health Nursing of Father Muller College Of Nursing helped the students in writing and directing the play and also accompanied the students to the Venue. Sr Jacintha D’Souza the principal, Mariette, the vice- principal, Irene Alvares, the HOD of Community Health Nursing department and all the departmental staff extended their support to make the programme a success.
