Karkala, Jun 12: In an incident that occurred at Abbanadka in Nandalike village of the taluk on Friday June 11, a man got electrocuted after a live wire suddenly snapped and fell on him. His wife suffered burn injuries when she tried to move the cable away from her husband’s body. The deceased has been identified as Antony Ferrao (68).

Sevrine Ferrao (62), Antony’s wife, rushed out of her home after hearing cries of her husband, and found her husband struggling because of the snapped live wire  that had fallen on his shoulder. When she tried to move the wire away, she suffered shocks and the wire remained stuck to her hands. A neighbourer named Paul, then rushed the spot and pushed the wire out of her hands with a wooden stick. However, Antony had breathed his last by then.

The deceased, who worked as a tailor in the Gulf for some time, had settled down in his native place since the last about 15 years, eking out a living by doing tailoring work. He is survived by wife, a daughter and a son. Reportedly, the wire got snapped at the spot where the Mescom officials had joined together the ends of the cable that had snapped some time back. On the previous occasion, however, no major damage had occurred.

Tahsildar, Madhukar Nayak, and revenue officer, K P Nayak, visited the spot and submitted a report on their findings to the district administration.

Let God give peace to this lady to overcome the loss of her husband's death, to overcome the fact that she couldn't save him despite trying her best.
The lack of quality in workmanship is being reflected as it states, Reportedly, the wire got snapped at the spot where the Mescom officials had joined together the ends of the cable that had snapped some time back. Ultimately the people responding to this news is very limited..it isn't a plane crash? but doesn't it matter a precious life was lost? In sensitivity to such issues in demanding quality infrastructre, enforcing rules will cause more incidents..pity on those in charge of assuring safety of the people for inaction
