Bengaluru: Sangh Parivar, party loyalists plan meeting to alert government

Bengaluru, Jan 30: Over 15 BJP legislators who are identified as party and Sangh Parivar loyalists, who are frustrated at the functioning of the state government, have planned to alert the government by holding separate meetings when the legislature session is on.

Sources said that these MLAs are concerned about the fact that the government has not been working to the level it is expected to, and also about a huge imbalance caused in the distribution of ministerial portfolios. They have decided to place their demands before the legislative party meeting of the party.

One of the MLAs identified with the group said that two meetings have already been held and a third meeting will be held on Monday February 1. "We are neither rebels, nor are conducting any anti-party activities. Our concern is only that the government function satisfactorily and it sticks to the ideals and principles of the party and Sangh Parivar.”

These MLAs said that the people of the state, with high expectations from the BJP, gave high number of seats to the party. "We need to introspect whether the government is ruling to befit that expectation. We want to know whether the government is working to satisfy its activists who worked to bring them to power, and the people who voted for them with a lot of expectations.

"We are neither against the party nor chief minister B S Yediyurappa. Some issues need to be addressed and the government should be on track. The government and organization should move hand in hand. Party and organization should never be forgotten," they said.

Some of those who attended the meetings were V Sunil Kumar, Appachu Ranjan, Abhay Patil, Aravind Bellad, and Sathish Reddy. Sources said that the number of MLAs was about 15 to 20. Their demands are that state should adopt Narendra Modi model of rule, dump caste appeasement and work for the welfare of everyone in the state, without hurting smaller castes. Family politics should be shelved and nepotism should be kept away. Corruption free administration backed by decisions about citizens’ welfare should alone be undertaken. Chief minister's family members should be kept at a distance. Representation to all the regions and communities, which is not done, should be ensured and social justice has not been ensured. The government should extricate itself from being Bengaluru-Belagavi-Lingayat-Vakkaliga centric. They demand opportunities in corporations and boards for party activists who worked hard for the party. Here caste balance should be maintained and interests of party loyalists should be protected, they say.
