Kundapur: Fire in Coconut Processing Factory – Loss of Rs 14 lac

Kundapur, Jun 26: In an incident that occurred in Sri Ganesha Kalpataru Coconut Processing and Production Factory’s warehouse in Koteshwar in the taluk on Friday June 25, stock of dried coconut and coconut shells was reduced to ashes.  The office of the factory located in the first floor, was partially destroyed.

The incident reportedly occurred due to a short circuit. The local people and the personnel of the fire brigade fought with the raging fire and prevented further devastation. Initially, one fire tender was summoned to the spot. As it could not control the rapidly spreading fire, another tender came on the scene later.

Reportedly, timely action saved the machines and other processing equipments functioning in the underground. If the fire had spread to this section, the factory would have suffered losses running into crores of rupees, it is gathered.

A fireman of fire brigade named Sudhakar developed sickness during the operation and was rushed to a private hospital here.
