Mangalore: Tracks Cleared – Trains Services Resume Temporarily

Mangalore, Jun 28: The work of clearing of the railway tracks of mud and other debris, which had got deposited on them, continued on Sunday June 27. After the tracks were cleared, trains were allowed to move on the tracks. The work of clearing mud from both sides of the track is progressing, and it might take a few days before the entire work is completed, railways sources said.

It may be recalled that after a hillock suffered landslide between Padil in the city and Tokur railway station, train services were disrupted since Saturday morning. At around 5 pm on Sunday, the Okha-Ernakulam Express train was allowed to pass through this stretch at a very slow pace. Time tables of several trains were changed.






The departure time of Ernakulam-Ajmer Super Fast Express train that was to leave from Ernakulam at 7.15 pm was rescheduled to 7 am on Monday. The Mangala Express that was to leave from Ernakulam at 10.45 am on Monday will leave today at 2.30 pm. The Tirunelveli Express that was to leave at 5.45 am will leave at 8 pm today. The Thiruvananthapuram-Lokamanya Tilak Express that was to leave at 10 am will undertake its onward journey at 6 pm, railway sources added.

The Lokamanya Tilak Express to city central railway station, aborted its trip at Suratkal station on Sunday, and its passengers were taken to the city in buses. Likewise, passengers bound for Mumbai were taken to Suratkal from the local railway station. Madgaon Express from the city was cancelled on Sunday.

Train No. 635/636 and 637/638 Kabaka Puttur – Mangalore passenger train, and train No. 651/652 Subramaya Road – Mangalore passenger train will not run on Monday June 28..

Southern Railway chief executive engineer, G Narayanan and Palakkad division’s railway manager, S K Raina, have camped at the site to guide the relief operations.
