Mangalore, Jul 26: Primary education plays key role in shaping the future of students and the teachers have significant responsibility in this regard. The need of the hour is to lay due emphasis on quality education essential in the competitive era, said S Ganesh Rao, founder chairman of Karavali Group of Educational Institutions.
Rao was speaking after inaugurating district-level primary teachers’ speech competition held at Badriya College auditorium, here on Sunday July 25. The speech competition was organized as part of coastal Muslim community’s educational convention to be held here from Monday August 2 to Wednesday August 4.
Rao further urged the primary teachers, in order to positively use their knowledge and experience, to improve the confidence of students. He stressed on the need to change according to times rather than grumbling on the education system.
Professor M Abdul Rehman, retired vice-chancellor of Kannur and Calicut University presided.
"The education is not indifferent to society. The success of education institutions depends on its teaching staff,’ said professor M Abdul Rehman. The constant upgrading of knowledge and quality evaluation should become characteristics of every teacher. The teachers should discharge their duties for betterment of society, he urged.
Forty teachers from the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts participated in the speech competition on the topic ‘The role of teachers in facing the challenges of modern education system.’
Badriya Pre-University College principal Dr Ismail N and Hidaya Foundation founder chairman Kasim Ahmed H K were the chief guests.
Abdul Basit conducted the prayer service. Ummer U H delivered the introductory address. B A Mohammed Ali compered the programme. Haji Mohammed Hanif G proposed the vote of thanks.
