Mangaluru, Apr 13: Agnesian alumna aced the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK) exams whose results were declared on Monday April 12. Clearing the ACCA on her first attempt, Ashel Riana Rego was among the 92,000 candidates across the globe who took the test.
As a graduate, Ashel pursued BCom graduate integrated with ACCA from St Agnes College (Autonomous). Her success also marks her off as the second alumna of the institution to become an ACCA affiliate of BCom integrated batch. A straight A’s student, she has the reputation of being a second rank holder of the BCom with ACCA - Batch of 2020, and also receiving the principal’s roll of honour in all semesters.
Ashel also holds ACCA Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business along with a Certificate in International Financial Reporting (Cert IFR). With these qualifications, she currently works in one one of the Big 4 Audit firms in Bangalore. As per her dreams, she has set an example for future aspirants by making complete use of her intellect and qualifications.
Ashel is the daughter of Richard and Anna Rego and Sister to Aaron Rego. Her family is currently residing at Kadri.
ACCA is a globally recognized accounting qualification that provides a strong foundation to students and professionals for careers in Accounting, Tax Consulting, etc. According to ACCA’S press releases this year more than 92,000 students around the world sat for approximately 112,000 ACCA exams. In all, 3,440 students who completed their final exams to become ACCA affiliates whose results were announced recently.
Ashel credits her success to Sr Maria Shamita AC, the Apostolic Carmel's provincial superior who encouraged her to take up ACCA. She also thanked Dr Devi Prabha Alva who was HOD in charge of the ACCA professional course constantly supported her journey. “Along with the Principal Sr Dr M Venissa AC, I thank all the faculty members and support staff for the best education and service they provide,” she said.
Ashel credits her success to setting realistic goals and working on the shortcoming with a predetermined deadline. She said that students must make complete use of the ACCA study support resources such as technical articles, ‘Practice to Pass’ videos and Examiners Report, and so on.
Giving a small peak to her success, Ashel advices the aspirants to be disciplined and consistent with their academics. “Positive outlook towards life. Seeking advice from those who have previously appeared in the exam gives clarity on the areas that need attention,” she said.
Besides Ashel said that going through technical articles, online resources such as examiners report, ‘Practice to Pass’ videos are a great aid. “Solving past question papers also enables aspirants to understand time-management during the exam,” she said.
No matter how much you work hard, taking care of self during the exam period is essential. Food, water, sleep, and mental health must be placed above everything, she added.
