New Delhi, Jul 3: An Air India flight (AI 103) from Delhi to Washington DC was cancelled midway on Thursday after it developed a technical snag during a scheduled fuel stop in Vienna.
The flight, which had departed Delhi at 12:45 am on Wednesday, was halted in Vienna due to the detection of an extended maintenance issue during refueling. The airline later confirmed that the issue required rectification before the aircraft could continue, leading to the cancellation of the Vienna–Washington DC leg.
Passengers were disembarked in Vienna and rebooked on alternative flights, while some were offered full refunds depending on their preference, Air India said in a statement.
As a result, the return flight AI 104 from Washington DC to Delhi via Vienna was also cancelled. Affected passengers from both sectors have been accommodated on other available flights.
Air India assured that passenger safety remains the top priority and apologized for the inconvenience caused.
