Sullia, Apr 24: Once again Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the richest temple in the state, is making news for wrong reasons. A lawyer has raised a complaint with the chief minister (CM) that the revenue audit of the temple has not taken place for the past five years. There is suspicion that a huge scam has taken place in the yearly income records of the temple.

Srihari Kutsa, lawyer of Bengaluru origin has filed complaint on the temple with CM B S Yediyurappa and commissioner of Muzrai department. He has highlighted that every year the administrative committee of the temple is giving a rough estimate of revenue information of the temple. Though the collection has gone beyond Rs 100 crore in the past five years, no auditing is done.

Mohanram Sulli, president of temple maintenance committee had informed in a press conference which was held a few days ago that Rs 68.94 crore revenue is made by the temple for the fiscal 2020-21. However, disclosing the figure without auditing has led to huge suspicion.

The matter has come to the notice of Yathish Ullal, AC of Puttur sub division, who was the administrative officer of the temple. He said that he has asked the executive officer and president of maintenance committee of the temple to take suitable action.

In the complaint raised, the complainant has accused the administrative committee of the temple of misusing more than Rs 60 crore in the past five years. The complainant has also accused that the temple does not keep proper count of the gold and silver ornaments that are donated to the temple. The rental shops and buildings of the temple are not being auctioned every year.
