Chitradurga, Apr 26: The police who went to question about a huge crowd having come together for a wedding in Byalahal village in violation of the norms, were attacked by a gang which also damaged the police vehicle.

When a checking squad visited the house in Byalahal village where the marriage was taking place on Saturday night, a gang threw stones at the police and damaged their vehicle. About ten people were arrested in this connection and remanded to judicial custody.

The Bharamasagar police, who got information about hundreds of people having gathered for the said marriage, visited the spot and questioned about the huge crowd. After a verbal friction, a gang of villagers attacked the police men and shattered the glasses of the police helpline vehicle. On coming to know of the incident, police deputy superintendent Pandurangappa, and Bharamasagar station in-charge officer visited the spot and brought the situation under control. A case was registered in this respect at Bharamasagar police station.
