Kundapur: Woman dies in auto-car collision near Siddapur

Kundapur, Apr 27: In an accident which happened on Monday April 26 afternoon on Kundapur-Shivamogga state highway at Dottanaberu, Hennabail in Siddapur village, a car hit an auto rickshaw. In this accident, a woman lost her life on the spot.

A mother-daughter duo was travelling by the auto rickshaw when the unfortunate accident happened. The auto rickshaw driver and the other woman passenger in the auto rickshaw suffered serious injuries. They have been admitted into a hospital at Manipal.

The deceased was Bibima from Haikad. She was thrown on the road due to the sudden jolt sufferd by the three-wheeler. Her daughter Rehana (35), and driver Fareed, suffered serious injuries. Car driver Shankar N Shetty and his daughter escaped with minor injuries. They were admitted into a private hospital in Kundapur.

The two women had hired an auto rickshaw at Haikady. They had planned to visit the house of a deceased relative at Brahmavar and then meet the family members of another deceased relative at Hosangady. The car driver and his daughter were distributing invitation cards pertaining to the house warming ceremony when the collision happened. The car was speeding towards Siddapur from the direction of Hosangady when it went out of the driver's control and hit the auto rickshaw.

Shankarnarayana police who have registered a case, are investigating.
