Kasargod: Firing at police by gang - Another arrested

Kasargod, Apr 27: Relating to the alleged firing at police on March 25 at Uppala and Meeyapadavu, one of the gang members, Munaf (22) from Majibail, was arrested by the Manjeshwar police on Monday April 26.

Two gangs which came in two cars had fired at each other and spread panic in the area. The police who came to know about the incident, rushed to the spot at which the gang had fled. The gang members had run away after abandoning the car at Meeyapadavu. When the police were taking the car to the police station, shots were fired at the police as a result of which a deputy superintendent of police and police sub-inspector were injured.

As the gang fled into Karnataka, the Kerala police had alerted the Vittal police station. Two of the gang members were then arrested at Kodange check post. Later, four more members were arrested. Accused gang members, Sajan and Sabir, are still at large.
