Online cheating case registered at Udupi police station

Udupi, May 1: Unidentified miscreant cheated a person named Novel Lobo here of Rs 17,150. A person had contacted him through Facebook promising Novel of arranging a loan to him on low-interest rates. The stranger got Rs 14,650 transferred to his ICICI bank account in the name of Bajaj Finance on March 17 in the form of service charges. He also got Rs 2,500 on March 18 via the google pay account of Novel thereby cheating him of a total amount of Rs 17,150.

A case at Udupi cess police station is registered under registration No 27-2021 section 66( c), 66(d) IT Act and section 420 of IPC in this connection on the basis of a complaint from Novel Lobo.
