Kasargod: Kerala govt to restrict weekend lockdown to Sundays only

Kasargod, Aug 4: The Kerala government, relaxing lockdown guidelines, has imposed complete weekend lockdown only on Sunday. All business and commercial establishments will function from Monday to Saturday from 7 am to 9 pm.

Kerala health minister Veena George, on Wednesday August 4 informed, “Lockdown is exempted on August 15 and 22, due to Independence Day and Onam festival. Business establishments can run their business on these days. The government has withdrawn earlier orders of 'test positive rate' which was implemented on the basis of positive cases. Instead, positive cases will be controlled on examining the cases on weekly basis, informed.

“The devotees will be allowed to the religious centers on the basis of available space. Only 40 people will be allowed to visit prayer centers at a time.

“Only 20 people will be allowed for marriage, funeral and post funeral rituals.

“In a week, out of 1,000, if 10 people are found positive, complete lockdown will be imposed in that area. In other places, business can be run six days a week. But, public programmes cannot be held. During festivals, public should strictly adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines.

“It is better, if those who have received the first dose of vaccine, possess a Covid negative certificate and those who recovered from Covid-19 a month ago, go out to buy essentials and other items. Vaccines will be provided to those who have crossed 60 years.

“Health workers will provide vaccination to bed-ridden people after visiting their homes,”informed the minister.
