Mangalore: Joy of Giving Week to be Observed in City from Sep 26

Media Release

Mangalore, Sep 24: For the first time in the city the youth and kids are gearing up in a big way to observe the `Joy of Giving’ Week from Sunday September 26 to October 2 by inviting the Mangaloreans to join in the meaningful observance.

The programme, with its theme ‘feeling of goodness you receive when you give’, is a unique initiative of CREST (Creating Resources to Empower Society Today), a youth leadership forum and SAM (Students Action Movement), comprising of High School children.

The students have been on a campaign all around the city, contacting schools and colleges, public and private enterprises, religious institutions, apartments and such other places, appealing the concerned to give away things that they no longer use so that it can benefit the lesser fortunate ones. The students will form groups and go around the city through the Joy of Giving Week and collect the items that could include old cloths, books, newspapers, crockery among others which can be used. The same would be handed over to orphanages, blind mobility centre, old age homes and slums in and around the city.

The members of CREST and SAM, the forums initiated by Centre for Integrated Learning, a not-for-profit organization focusing on value addition to education, are enthusiastic with the response that they are receiving from general public. Various institutions have agreed to associate with the programme by encouraging students and professionals to involve in the event.

Those interested to donate items can contact CIL Campus, Behind Jugul Towers, Mallikatte or Call Trishma Pinto (9449569694) or Aurelia (9880115124).
