Mangaluru, Aug 15: The district administration is currently making arrangements to enable rapid PCR test at Mangaluru International Airport to facilitate NRIs travelling abroad.
It may be recalled that the UAE government had imposed travel restrictions on Indian travelers. A few days ago, the UAE lifted the restrictions on various conditions which included possession of UAE residency visa, two doses of vaccination, and negative report of RT-PCR test (within 48 hours before travel). Hence, the district administration has decided to make arrangements for rapid RT-PCR test at the airport premises for the benefit of passengers travelling abroad.
Until now, NRIs from the city and around used to travel to UAE via Bengaluru, Mumbai or other airports to meet UAE's requirements. Now, with the introduction of RT-PCR test, they can directly travel to UAE from here.
Hidyath Adoor had brought the issue to the notice of the deputy commissioner, who had assured to solve the problem.
Deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra speaking to daijiworld confirmed that arrangements have been made for rapid RT-PCR test. The DC also said that flights to UAE from Mangaluru are expected to resume from August 17.
KNRI UAE president Praveen Shetty, Sharjah Karnataka Sangha president M E Muloor, BDF President Mohammed Ali Uchilla, Namma Nada Okkuta president Mohammed Salim, Kannada Mitraru UAE president Shashidhar Nagarajappa extended their support and thanked the district administration.
