Mangaluru, Aug 16: Former MLA Ramanath Rai called CT Ravi an ‘anti-national’ for his remarks over former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
Addressing media on Monday August 16, he said, “We condemn the statements of BJP leaders who are insulting our freedom fighters. C T Ravi thinks that he is an important person in the country as he occupies the BJP’s national general secretary post. He remarks on Nehru is condemnable and unacceptable. It has become a habit for BJP leaders to deliver provocative statements.
“Now BJP are trying to change the name of Indira canteen. Is the service of Indira Gandhi to the nation less in any way? Her service to this nation is enormous, be it starting Anganwadi or women and child welfare department. She had also worked for the upliftment of the down-trodden.
“We can make out the mindset of BJP who criticize freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence and consider Godse as a freedom fighter. C T Ravi, who passed derogatory remarks over freedom fighters should be considered as an anti-national.
“CT Ravi also termed Congress leaders as slaves of Nehru. Fortunately, we did not become slave of corporate companies like the BJP.
“The BJP is supporting those who deliver loose talk and people should condemn it,” he said.
On the incident in Puttur, he said, “The government and district administration are responsible for the clash at Kabaka Puttur as they failed to conduct the Independence Day programme smmothly. During the time of the Congress government, not even a single clash occurred during Independence Day events,” he said.
District Congress president Harish Kumar, district Youth Congress president Lukman Bantwal, corporator Shashidhar Hegde, Congress leader Naveen D’Souza, Harinath, Prathibha Kulai, Ibrahim Kodijal, PV Mohan and others were present.
