Mangaluru, Aug 16: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal (BD) and Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) will stage protest on August 17 at 40 police stations across Dakshina Kannada condemning the act of disrupting of Independence Day programme by SDPI activists at Kabaka in Puttur. At the same time, a procession will be carried out displaying Veer Savarkar’s portrait by Hindu organisations from Puttur Mahalingeshwar temple to the place where the incident took place.
Addressing media here on Monday August 16, regional secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Sharan Pumpwell said, “On August 15, during the Independence Day programme at Kabaka, SDPI and PFI activists stopped a chariot that displayed Veer Savarkar’s photo and insisted to display Tipu Sultan’s photo. Communal forces like SDPI and PFI have harmed the harmony in the society and are involved in anti-social activities. Recently, the arrest of person in connection to the terrorist organization indicates that there is rise in terrorist activities in the district.”
He also urged the government to ban SDPI and PFI and said, “They are troubling this nation with anti-social activities every now and then. Police should file case of treason against these organizations for disrupting the Independence Day programme.”
Regional convenor of Bajrang Dal Bujanga Kulal, district secretary of VHP Shivanand Mendon and others were present.
