Puttur, Aug 18: Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha has accused both the BJP and the SDPI of playing politics by using the name of Veer Savarkar. It said that this is a part of the ploy that is connected with the coming taluk and zilla panchayat elections.
State president of the party, Rajesh Pavitran, speaking at a media conference here, pointed out that the BJP does not want to be associated with Nathuram Godse, but wants Veer Savarkar. "This amounts to double standards. Savarkar is our leader. He built our party. We also idolise Nathuram Godse along with Savarkar," he explained.
He claimed that the BJP has been incessantly trying to finish off the Hindu Mahasabha. "SDPI took birth because of the BJP. Now these two parties enact a drama of fighting between themselves. Both the Congress and the BJP, which claim to be secular, are two sides of the same coin. BJP does not need us. In that case, why does it want to be associated with our leader, Veer Savarkar" Hindus should not fall for these political games," he advised.
He recalled that when not in power, the BJP had demanded that the SDPI should be banned. He pointed out that even though in power now, it has not banned SDPI. "If it has the guts, it should ban SDPI. The party unseated Yediyurappa who built the party in the state. If an election is held in the state now, the BJP will not get even ten seats. If they act out drama in the name of Hindus, the BJP will lose its deposit," he warned.
Party's state general secretary, Dharmendra, said that the BJP becomes a pro Hindu party only when it keeps non-Hindus out of the party. "We will accept it if it follows this policy. Currently, only Hindu party in the country is Hindu Mahasabha. SDPI is an enemy of Hindus. But it needs only Muslim members. If SDPI becomes stronger, it can create another Taliban," he said.
He wondered how Tipu Sultan be considered as a freedom fighter, taking into consideration the fact that the concept of nation's independence was not in vogue then. "RSS founder, Keshav Baliram Hedgewar is revered by us but the current RSS leadership is not right. We do not speak about the Congress as it is a rotten fruit. BJP is trying to make fools out of Hindus. It needs to keep people other than Hindus out. Till now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given good leadership. The BJP which now is opposed to Tipu Sultan, had celebrated his birth anniversary in the past. The Mahasabha will fight the zilla and taluk panchayat elections and there will be a time when it will guide the future of the country," he said.
