Udupi, Aug 19: Minister of state for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Shobha Karandlaje said that people who do not know the history of the country are passing remarks on Veer Savarkar.
Speaking in a press meet at a hotel in Ambalpady on Thursday August 19, she said, "Veer Savarkar was a freedom fighter. People who have not read the history of the country, do not know about Savarkar. Those who comment on Veer Savarkar, do not know the history of the country.”
Karandlaje further said that she has spoken to union minister Amit Shah regarding establishing a National Investigation Agency (NIA) office in Mangaluru. “There is a necessity of an NIA office in Mangaluru. The problem of the country should be discussed in the assembly. Political representatives are fighting for positions. I became a minister due to the blessings of Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency's people.
“As much as 70% of the people in the country depend only on agriculture. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started various programmes for development of agriculture. For the first time in the country, 305 million metric tons of pulses and 326 million metric tons of vegetables have been produced. This is a record. Under the administration of PM Modi, India stands on the ninth position in exports of products,” she said.
