Brahmavar: Retired district health officer ends life

Brahmavar, Sep 27: Dr M P Raghavendra Rao (76), from Belmaru Patel House, who was the managing trustee of Aroor Lord Vishnumurthy temple for a long period, ended his life at his residence at Kolalagiri near here on Sunday September 26. He was a retired district health officer.

He has left behind two daughters, both doctors. His wife, Geetha Rao, had passed away a month back after which Raghavendra is said to have suffered from mental depression. Later he resigned as the trustee of the said temple. He hanged himself when alone.

Raghavendra had served as medical officer in the local government clinics at Kukkehalli, Uppoor, Kolalagiri, Perdoor, Malpe, Kemmannu etc. He had later become a family welfare officer and district health officer before retiring. After retirement he was providing treatment to the people at Kolalagiri. He had guided renovation works of several temples and had taken an active role in religious programmes.
