Kaup: Fishermen undertaking fishing drowns in rivulet

Kaup, Sep 29: In an incident which happened on Monday September 27, a fisherman who was catching fish from Papanashini rivulet at Udyavar drowned.

The deceased was Ravi Shriyan (64), resident of Udyavar Pitrody. As usual, he had left home on Monday morning for fishing. However, the family members were concerned as he did not return even till the afternoon. His son then went to meet and question people living nearby. But he could not get any clue where his father had gone.

Thereafter, out of suspicion, a search was launched in the rivulet. In the evening, the body was recovered from Udyavar Papanashini rivulet. It is suspected that he would have slipped during fishing and drowned in the rivulet. A report in this regard was filed at Kaup police station. The police have taken up investigation.
