Bengaluru, Oct 1: The state highii court has cancelled a site allotted to Murthy Charitable Trust with Gayatri Jadhav, wife of Kalaburagi MLA Umesh Jadhav, as its president, by Karnataka Housing Board. It has imposed a fine of one lac rupees on the housing board for distributing the site illegally and ordered an investigation against the erring officials.

A division bench of the high court comprising acting chief justice, Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sachin Shankar Magdam, which heard a public interest litigation filed by Adinarayana Shetty, issued this order on Thursday September 30. The bench nullified both the order and sale deed issued by the housing board in favour of the trust and directed the board to take back the possession of the site within 30 days. It also said that this is a clear example of violation of rules and nepotism.

In the year 2004, Karnataka Housing Board had sanctioned CA site to Murthy Charitable Trust in Yalahanka New Town fifth stage. After two years after the site was sanctioned, site was given to the trust for Rs 3.87 lac on the condition that the site should be used for opening a school. The site remained as it is for 16 years. In the year 2020 the board again issued a sale deed in favour of the trust. The petitioner who approached the high court said that power misuse is observed in this case and sought cancellation of the site allotment.
