Udupi MLA meets Mangaluru airport chief officer over taxi operators parking fee woes

Udupi, Oct 1: Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat met Mangaluru International Airport chief officer and discussed about the problems faced by the taxi drivers in airport due to high rate of parking fees.

Taxis arriving at Mangaluru airport are charged parking fees. If the passenger is late at the taxi pickup point and the parking of the taxi exceeds 30 minutes, the taxi drivers are made to pay a fee of Rs 150. This is a burden to the taxi operators.

Being the president of Udupi District Taxi and Maxibcab Association, Raghupati Bhat brought the issue to the notice of the airport chief officer.

Airport chief officer Ashuthosh Chandra responded positively to the request and has agreed to discuss the matter with the higher officers,”said MLA Raghupathi Bhat.

Dinesh Kumpala, president DK Taximen and Maxicab Association P Anand, chief secretary Ramesh Kotian, chief secretary Udupi Taximen and Maxicab Association Prakash Adiga, treasurer Krishna Poojary, Rathish Shetty and Sreenath were present during the meet.
