Udupi, Oct 2: Renowned entrepreneur of Udupi Pangala Rabindra Nayak breathed his last on Saturday October 2. He was 99.

Rabindra Nayak was the director of Hanuman Transports Co (P) Ltd, Udupi. Pangla Rabindra Nayak was born on February 9, 1922. He joined Hanuman Transport Company in 1951. After having work experience, he was elevated to the post of managing director in 1972 and served the company for several decades. For some time, he was the managing director of Sri Gajanana Motor Transport Co Ltd also.

He was a postgraduate in Physics from Bombay University. He had briefly worked for the Royal Indian Navy as a technical assistant. Later during 1945-50, he worked as a technologist for Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi.

He was also honoured by many organisations for his service to the society. Rabindra Nayak was conferred with lifetime achievement award of Dakshina Kannada Automobile and Tyre dealers’ association. He was a major contributor for the district hospital of Udupi.
