Mangaluru, Oct 3: Sahayathri team of residents of Kasargod border areas, who are dependent on Dakshina Kannada, submitted an appeal to the DC Dr Rajendra K V requesting exemption from RTPCR test.

Receiving the appeal, Dr Rajendra promised that suitable action will be taken based on the positivity rate of corona test of Kasargod district.

The Sahayathri team, in its appeal urged, “Thousands of Kasargod residents depend on Dakshina Kannada for employment, education, medical and business. Karnataka government has made it mandatory for Kasargod residents to provide negative RTPCR test report to enter Dakshina Kannada. This should be revoked.”

Lokesh Jodukallu, Krishna Kishore Enamkoodlu, Shivakrishna Niduvaje and Ganesh Bhat Varanasi were in the team.

There is a remarkable reduction in the number of Covid cases in the district of Dakshina Kannada. On Friday 86 corona positive cases were reported and two people died. Positivity rate is down to 0.89%. While 91 people got discharged, there are 929 active cases in the district.

As the Covid cases were more in Kerala, precautionary measures were taken in border districts. Those who are travelling daily had to submit RTPCR test report every week. So the Sahayathri team made request for exemption.
