ASUS recruiting Android 12 beta testers for Zenfone 8

Taipei, Oct 4 (IANS): Taiwanese tech giant ASUS has started recruiting testers for the Zenfone 8's Android 12 beta update, which will come with ASUS' ZenUI 8 custom Android skin.

The company says that participation in the program is confidential, meaning no one can publicly share information about the beta software on public forums, reports XDADevelopers.

The beta program is aimed at finding and fixing bugs before the stable software update rolls out to the public, likely later this year.

To enroll in the beta Android 12 update for the ZenFone 8, go to Settings > System > System update, click the gear icon at the top-right corner, and select "enroll in the beta test program".

Android 12 includes new features that give users more transparency around which apps are accessing their data and more controls to make informed choices about how much private information your apps can access.

The new Privacy Dashboard offers a single view into permission settings as well as what data is being accessed, how often and by which apps. It also lets you easily revoke app permissions right from the dashboard.

Beyond these new privacy features in Android 12, the company said it is also building privacy protections directly into the OS.

Android 12 is packed with other useful experiences, like improved accessibility features for people with impaired vision, scrolling screenshots, conversation widgets.
