Mangaluru, Oct 4: All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Amee Yajnik urged investigation by a sitting Supreme Court judge into the Amazon bribery case.

Addressing media here on Monday October 4, Dr Amee Yajnik said, “The inaction of the Modi government has ruined the livelihood of petty shopkeepers and businesses which resulted in unemployment of large sections of youths. The government has taken the contract to see that the youths’ lives are totally ruined. There has been rampant corruption in the country including the recent Amazon bribery case where they paid Rs 8,546 crore as legal fee to India which was paid in a period of two years.

“Was the money paid to bend the laws or policies of India for smooth entry of the company in this country? Modi has come up with three point plan that is to sell India’s assets created in the past 70 years and take money out of it. This has shut down the opportunities for youths. Modi is not at all worried about issues of the country.

“As many as 14 crore jobs have been lost in the last one and half years and there are no such schemes where they can get jobs. Modi has no answer to the people who have lost jobs,” she added.

Dr Amee questioned PM Modi over the Amazon bribery case and asked who has pocketed Rs 8,546 crore which has to be explained. “Was the bribe to bend the existing rules to accommodate Amazon in the country? Whenever issues crop up in the country, Narendra Modi fails to come forward and address them.

“This case has to be probed by a sitting Supreme Court judge where the truth will be revealed,” she said.

District Congress president Harish Kumar, Congress leaders PV Mohan, Subhodh Alva, T K Sudhir and others were present.
