Beltangady, Nov 25: In an attack launched with a knife and a saber near Govindoor school in Kaliya village in the taluk on two brothers relating to land dispute, one suffered serious injuries and was admitted into a private hospital in Mangaluru.

Hyder from Nelligudde House, Govindoor in Kaliya village and Muhammed Rafique were injured in the incident. Accused Ashutosh (30) from Govindoor in Nyayatarpu village, Chandrahas (25) from Munchalake House in Machina village and Latan (21) from Piligoodu village have been arrested.

Hyder and Ashutosh were involved a land dispute over a prolonged period. On November 23, Hyder was going to Nelligudde in Kaliya village in an auto rickshaw when Latan and Chandrahas, said to be friends of Ashotosh, used abusive words against him and attacked him with a knife.

When Hyder's elder brother Muhammed Rafique, came there, he too was attacked with a knife. The locals rushed there on hearing the wails of the injured. The attackers threw away the lethal weapons and escaped, it is said.

Beltangady police have registered a case. Investigation is on.
